Michael's Headshot

I would very much like to thank Kelly Groeneweg with Rugged Grace Photography for my headshot.

She is a true photographer and friend, as it was raining while we did our shoot.

Fact 01
A Native's Perspective: Wyoming's Wild Heart

Born and raised in this land, I have a separate and deep passion for photographing the natural world. My lifelong connection to Wyoming gives me a unique perspective, allowing me to capture the raw energy and breathtaking beauty of our wild landscapes and the creatures that call them home. It's an honor to freeze these untamed moments in time.

Fact 02
18 years old and I thought I knew it all

I began taking pictures as a kid, but my true photographic life began in 1983 with a Nikon FG. That camera—my first 35mm—became more than just an instrument; it became a trusted companion that guided me through my young adult years and ignited a passion that has stayed with me ever since. For every shot and every memory, I've continued to rely on Nikon.

Fact 03
To be young and do it again, I wouldn't change a thing.

Joining the US Navy was a leap of faith, and I had no idea where the journey would take me. Over seven incredible years, I wouldn't have traded the experience for anything. With my Nikon FG always by my side, I was able to capture the many corners of the world I was lucky enough to see.

Fact 04
Where has the time gone?

This stage of my life is defined by a wonderful lady, my wife Kathy. This year, 2025, marks our 15th wedding anniversary, a milestone that feels both a lifetime and a heartbeat away. We've known each other since fifth grade, were friends through school, and then went our separate ways after graduation. We reunited in 2009, and from that moment on, our story began. Today, she's not just my wife but my photography partner, handling all the posing duties.
